Mahesh Prasad Mishra was an average sarangi player with Banaras ancestry and a highly-inflated self-image. He was one of two sarangi players who refused to be filmed—demanding an astronomical sum of money per rag for a recording of four rags played for fifteen minutes each. I laughed and paid my respects.
