Thierre is the son of Adama Diarra, one of Mali’s most brilliant djembe players, a griot of Bobo ethnic background, although he specialises in the Mande griot tradition. Thierre has been playing the djembe since he was a toddler, and his sisters dance. The family lives in Bamako.
